kia2345 8 Posted June 19, 2015 I am starving every 3-4 hours, it's like I'm not getting enough when I do eat. I am 1 month out as if today and I'm at a stall for 3 weeks now. I don't know what I am doing wrong, I'm filling the Dr directions.
liannatx 897 Posted June 19, 2015 What are you eating, and how much? Are you on solids, and are you taking a PPI or acid reducer? Do you get all your fluids in? You will get some great feedback here with a little more information! I also tend to eat about every 3 hours. I have Breakfast, a snack around 9, lunch at noon, a snack around 3, and then dinner. (I can only eat about 2.5 ounces at a time though... my Snacks still aren't much different than a "meal"). I assume that will change as my capacity increases a little more. I notice that I starting to be able to eat a little more Protein at a meal now, and my snack tends to be smaller.... like a cheese stick. It is common to stall in the first month. Are your clothes fitting looser? Sometimes if you lose a nice amount with pre-op and liquids the body decides to stall the loss and take a break. Keep with it and the loss will resume. judyoz 240 Posted June 19, 2015 I am 7 weeks out and still eat every 3 hours. I am ok with it. Still losing weight and feel great!
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted June 19, 2015 Eating every 3 hours is pretty much the norm past-sleeve. Since you can't eat very much at once, that means you can't eat enough to tide you over for as long as you used to be able to. The important thing is to stick to only eating at scheduled/planned times and only be eating high Protein Snacks. You do NOT want to fall into the trap of grazing or eating things that won't keep you full as long as possible. At a month out, I was "eating" 5 times a day. I put "eating" in quotation marks there, because I was still doing Protein shakes back then, which were technically drinking. Now I am 9 months out and eat six times a day. I found that I needed to add a snack in between Breakfast and lunch once I started working out intensely.
Luv`n_all-of_Me 8 Posted June 19, 2015 My dietitian encourages me to eat every 3 to 4 hours equaling out to about 6 times (3 meals and 3 snacks). she said it continuously keeps your metabolism burning. Protein, veg, and carb for meals ;except dinner (only protein and veg., )and for snack, protein and healthy carb, but protein must be a low fat milk protein for snack.I hope that might help. JamieLogical 8,713 Posted June 19, 2015 but Protein must be a low fat milk Protein for snack I don't have that requirement with my nutritionist. My Snacks just have to be "high protein", no specifics that it has to be milk protein. I WILL often have a reduced fat cheese stick or greek yogurt as a snack, but I will also just as often have nuts or a meet stick (like a beef stick, but with turkey or leaner meats) for a snack. I know a lot of people also do Jerky as a snack, but I can deal with the texture of Jerky.< /p>
