No Sleeve yet but I have questions. When you say puree, what and how?

Exactly what foods do you eat pureed and how does that work?

pureed foods are liquidy and run off a spoon like applesauce or baby food.< /p>

Throw it in a blender and hit "yuck". Really, it's not that bad......just close your eyes and eat it. Pretty much anything can be pureed......and you won't have to eat puree for that long.

I know what pureed is but what kinds of foods are getting pureed? Are people making veggie shakes or steak drinks ?

I wonder what they are drinking?

@@MIMISAN

I'm in my pureed stage now. Hopefully your NUT can give you some recommendations like mine did! She helped me out a lot.

I'm allowed scrambled eggs on my pureed phase (even though they're not pureed). So I do those sometimes, usually one egg + one egg white.

I do a pureed "meal" of refried Beans, salsa, and cilantro pureed with a topping like guacamole or ff sour cream.

I love doing pureed cauliflower with cheese - it's delicious!

And for Protein, I recently started trying pureed chicken salad (which my NUT recommended) and it's not as bad as it sounds!

I also love doing frozen banana pureed with PB2 powder (and a splash of skim milk if it needs it) - it's quick and can be used for any meal.

Tofu is also on my list of things I'm allowed to have so I did that one night too.

I also made a pureed eggplant parm casserole one night -- an eggplant puree topped with a ricotta cheese puree, Tomato sauce, and a tiny bit of breadcrumbs on top! It was really good.

Your surgeon and/or his nutritionist should give you an eating plan for after surgery, with suggestions and a list of what is allowed and what is not allowed.

My surgeon may not allow caffeinated coffee, but yours may. It won't do you any good for me to tell you that you can or cannot have something, as we don't have the same surgeon. Mine may allow eggs; yours may not.

Yes, this is what I was wondering. But then once you prepare this food you only drink of eat about 2 oz's right?

Yes, lots of leftovers! I made the eggplant casseroles in little ramekins for single-portion servings, and I only ate half of one of those for a meal. For the cauliflower, I just portioned it into little containers or took out the amount I was going to eat. And for the refried bean meal or chicken salad, I actually make a little amount of it at a time and then pack it for lunch or eat it for dinner. I can eat around a 1/2 cup of food right now. Sometimes less, depending on the food. A lot of people I've heard from can only do around 1/4 cup though. A half of a cup works for me right now though, so it doesn't bother me.

@Sharon1964 is right though -- you're going to get your own guidelines from your surgeon, his/her team, or a NUT of your own. I hope my ideas help you when you get to that stage, but you may not be able to eat the same things. You'll just have to wait and see.

I didn't have a purée stage. Mine went from full liquids to soft foods. Your NUT can give you guidelines for the stages that they recommend.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
