So I'm 2 weeks post -op and today,I felt like I was dying. My chest felt a sharp piercing pain when I breath and my stomach felt like it was about to explode. On top of that I was nauseous the whole day and I had pain all over my legs. I did walk to see if that would help but the pain continued... I was about to go to the ER but I took the meds and pass out. When I woke up the pain was still there but not as strong.... has anyone felt like that before? Or had that chest pain where it hurt when breathe like shortness of breathe?

That doesn't sound normal. You should still go in or at least call an advice nurse. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Yes, seek medical attention. However, I also had the same pain on day 6 and it turns out it was just gas (and a lot of it too!). It was so strange because it came out of no where. Either way, everyone is different so I still strongly suggest you go to an ER.

What product did you take to manage the gas and bloating? I was sleeved 6/15. Hope you're feeling better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
