Best surgeon and clinic in Massachusetts

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm in the process of choosing my facility for band to sleeve revision. Looking for some fellow Bostonians to guide me on where they got the best care & who their surgeon was. I originally had my band done at Beth Israel Medical Center- I was disappointed with the after care, and hoping I get some great suggestions!

Thanks a bunch!

I am new in the process. I was going to go to BI but the commute for after care was a deal breaker for me. I am using http://www.mysignaturephysician.com/physician_abeles.html I have done the group meeting, the 1t therapy apt and a 6 hour class. So far I am very impressed.SouthShore Brockton Area. A good friend had it done at Mass General and is very happy. I can;t recall her surgone's name

I went through the process at Lahey in Burlington. Amazing support staff and my surgeon founded the program there, Dr. Brams. I still attend the monthly support meetings.

I'm looking into MGH and they look like they have their stuff together. Very well organized and efficient. I live on the south shore and work in the city, so I'm sure follow care will not be a problem there. I just wasn't sure if there was one surgeon at MGh that was preferred over another!

I had mine at Tufts Medical Center but there is also a surgeon in Walpole, MA - Surgical Weight Loss Specialists I think, Dr. Adam Glassgow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
