McButterpants 2,846 Posted June 18, 2015 There are a lot of factors in the skin discussion - genetics, age, amount lost, etc. I do have loose skin - I have it on my belly, I have bat wings and some around my knees. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, however. Also, I consider that my tax for allowing my weight to get out of control - I wear my sagging skin like a badge of honor...I earned it. And I will tell you - I'll take my loose skin over 75 pounds of fat any day of the week! Here's what I did to try to avoid it... I worked out a lot - I worked on toning and I do hot yoga. I think this helped my arms and legs. I did apply Skin Firming lotion daily - honestly, I don't know if this helped, but it made me feel better. I made sure I got my Water in every day. jane13 2,256 Posted June 18, 2015 I think age plays a big role in this along with how long you have been at that weight. I was 240 when I had my daughter in 1986 and in 1990 my stomach was still pretty tight no lose skin, I was 27. I weighed around 200 with son in 1991 and tummy returned to normal. I have gained over that 240 mark and held it for the last 5 or so years and I don't see a chance of getting close to not having it sag : (
Djmohr 6,965 Posted June 18, 2015 Loose skin is my new middle name. I do believe age has a lot to do with it but also how quickly you lose that weight. I will definately have to have plastics to put things back into place but I am more than willing given how much weight I have lost in such a short amount of time. lmb012182 61 Posted June 18, 2015 I had my surgery at 27 and my loose skin is horrible. Plastics are definitely in my future. But first I am going to focus on having babies. No point in a Tummy Tuck just to mess it up with a pregnancy. My arms and belly are the worst areas. I have seriously considered surgery on both.
Stevehud 1,790 Posted June 18, 2015 Lol my primary care doc saw me for the first time since the surgery, about two weeks back, and he said, well were gonna have to getthat Tummy Tuck and breast surgery, but heck, at least youll be alive to have it.. ( said in a nice way) So ill take it. Ive already started saving up what i can for it. Wont be easy.
AllisonK1986 68 Posted June 18, 2015 Does anyone's insurance pay for a Tummy Tuck. I think the 2 areas that will concern me the most are my upper thighs and my stomach due to rashes and chafing. My boobs don't worry me too much bc hell just put a bra on. But thanks for all the advice!
Jazziejt 5 Posted June 19, 2015 I was told by my bariatric group leader; because she had a good track record of the skin rash, etc... and going to the dermatologists, not treating herself. She was able to get the insurance company to pay for a Tummy Tuck. So I am planning to do the same.
