What do you do after you PB

Recommended Posts

I just PB'ed the first few bites of my lunch so threw it out. When you PB do you go on liquids for the rest of the day? I only have my first fill for a week, so I am still learning what the best thing would be.

After a PB, you'll be irritated and swollen, so switch to liquids for 24 hours, then I'll do mushies for 24 hours, and then try solids again.

Easy does it, hang in there!

Thank you. I hadn't PBed since last Tuesday, so this was a bit of a surprise. I think I may have taken those first few bites too quickly. This does take some time to learn doesn't it?

For me, it depends on the severity of it. If it's really a productive 'burp', and I just end up spitting something out, I'll try again in a bit. If there's wretching or anything like that envolved, I give it a rest at least for the rest of the day.

Yes, I did retch, an now I feel a slight burning sensation, so I will stay on liquids for the day. Do you guys PB often?

When I PB, I wait about 5 minutes, and finish eating what I started. I usually go MUCH slower the second time around, but I've never gone on liquids after a PB.

My doc says, 24 hours liquids after a vomiting episode. A PB is when food just comes back up in a burp. If you are heaving or if the "PB" lasts for any amount of time, the 24 hour rule applies. If the food just comes back up without any discomfort or struggle, you can resume eating just slower and smaller bites. If it is bad, I also do Aloe juice, to sooth the throat and stoma. ~Mandy

I'm kinda new to this, I was banded in April with some complications. I didnt get my first fill till about 5 weeks ago and had LOTS of humm I wont call it PBing, because I wretched!!!!!!! I think you need to REALLY pay attention I mean REALLY pay attention to what you eat in the first weeks after a fill. If it feels like maybe its not going down right ITS NOT. Try something else on your plate, in my expreiance taking another bite at that point is just asking for a wretching episode...

When I've had a really bad wretching episode I usually wait for the next meal or next day to try solids again. Hope this helped.
