Dropped about 10 # prior to surgery then another 20 in two weeks post surgery. Now, for the past 5 days there has been no change at all. Is it unusual for a plateau to hit this early? I'm back to swimming 5 days/week so maybe I'm regaining muscle? Yesterday I started measuring chest and waist to monitor changes there. Is it possible to eat too much? I'm on solid food but consists of things like a Protein Bar, egg, chicken breast, small steak, cottage cheese, etc. Not all in one day of course. Point is that I'm eating the right foods.

It's completely normal. Happens around 3 weeks to 99% of us. Do a search for the "Dreaded 3 Week Stall" in the search engine for this site. Keep getting your fluids and Protein and it will pass :) Take it a little easy on the excersising. You can't eat enough calories yet to compensate for it.

Boy can I feel you. I lost 15lbs post surgery and now I'm stuck and have been here for the last few days. It's incredibly discouraging because I'm not eating a bunch of food or junk or anything like that... the scale just isn't moving. I got on the scale this morning and I'm actually up 2lbs from last week. I know stalling is normal and I know my body will get itself regulated and I'll begin to drop more weight, but in the meantime, I'm working on not feeling like a complete failure.

Yes... I'm almost 4 weeks post op, and lost 21 pounds in the 1st two weeks. In the 3rd week I didn't lose anything, but my nut. said it's expected. This week I've noticed a 3 pound loss. I've heard that every so often there's a little stall.

I am in the same boat right now. It's just incredible to be that I only eat like 500 calories a day and I'm not losing this week. I want to get upset belut trying not too because I know everyone experiences it....just hard to understand...

Congratulations! You have may have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall a little early. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

I was prepared for stalls, just not at week 2. I hope it doesn't last long.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
