Mulepick 18 Posted June 17, 2015 Dropped about 10 # prior to surgery then another 20 in two weeks post surgery. Now, for the past 5 days there has been no change at all. Is it unusual for a plateau to hit this early? I'm back to swimming 5 days/week so maybe I'm regaining muscle? Yesterday I started measuring chest and waist to monitor changes there. Is it possible to eat too much? I'm on solid food but consists of things like a Protein Bar, egg, chicken breast, small steak, cottage cheese, etc. Not all in one day of course. Point is that I'm eating the right foods.
Babbs 14,681 Posted June 17, 2015 It's completely normal. Happens around 3 weeks to 99% of us. Do a search for the "Dreaded 3 Week Stall" in the search engine for this site. Keep getting your fluids and Protein and it will pass Take it a little easy on the excersising. You can't eat enough calories yet to compensate for it. desertgirl_74 114 Posted June 17, 2015 Yes!!! Same story here. I stalled weeks 2 & 3 after surgery. By week 4 I started losing again.
anikka 32 Posted June 17, 2015 Boy can I feel you. I lost 15lbs post surgery and now I'm stuck and have been here for the last few days. It's incredibly discouraging because I'm not eating a bunch of food or junk or anything like that... the scale just isn't moving. I got on the scale this morning and I'm actually up 2lbs from last week. I know stalling is normal and I know my body will get itself regulated and I'll begin to drop more weight, but in the meantime, I'm working on not feeling like a complete failure. 00612 12 Posted June 17, 2015 Yes... I'm almost 4 weeks post op, and lost 21 pounds in the 1st two weeks. In the 3rd week I didn't lose anything, but my nut. said it's expected. This week I've noticed a 3 pound loss. I've heard that every so often there's a little stall.
cindyt 24 Posted June 17, 2015 I am in the same boat right now. It's just incredible to be that I only eat like 500 calories a day and I'm not losing this week. I want to get upset belut trying not too because I know everyone experiences it....just hard to understand...
Rogofulm 2,440 Posted June 17, 2015 Congratulations! You have may have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall a little early. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again! (Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)
