Day 7 post op, very little nausea, go to full liquids today, no pain, incision tape is coming off, only have tenderness in one, I went back to the gym for the first time yesterday to see where I'm at and get into a routine but I did so well I had to pull myself out so I wouldn't hurt myself, I guess at this point I am clear of getting buyers remorse, I would do this again in a second if asked, the funny part was that out of everything I experienced, I got emotional yesterday when I went in the closet and every single shirt(even the smaller ones) fit! Loose! , I even have pants that I am certain I will fit into within a month or so, I believe that from the time I started my journey in January 388 lbs to my first dietician visit 362.2 to my surgery on 6/10/15 346lbs to today maybe at 328 or so, more than 60 lbs lost and I'm just starting, always at the back of my head I say to myself "this is a tool, learn to use it, and use it well through life!"

Why are you in the gym at seven days post-op? I am concerned that you may hurt yourself. Maybe you could look at a YouTube video of your type of operation to remind yourself how your insides have been brutalized.

My orders were to lift no more than five pounds for one month. At six weeks, I got the all-clear for exercise and stength training as tolerated.

Please be careful. i would never want a bariatric brother or sister to bust a gussett in the gym. I am so glad you are recovering well, and would not want you to undo the doctor's hard work. It's OK to take your time healing; proceed with caution, if you must, but would you at least call your team and ask them to remind you what their particular guidelines are on the matter?

Good luck on yur journey to the new you.

I second @@Miss Mac 's concerns. At a week post-op, you should only be walking. I was allowed to do up to 60 minutes of "brisk walking" daily, but not all at once. I wasn't cleared for any strength training or intense cardio until 6 weeks post-op.

I third @@Miss Mac 's cautions.

Isn't the feeling wonderful as the pounds keep coming off and clothes fit better, and even better-get too big for you? You are obviously on the right track with your weight loss. But please use good judgement about exercise and eating/drinking while your body is steal healing from surgery. When I viewed a gastric sleeve surgery on YouTube before having my surgery, it was an eye opener as to what exactly would be going on inside me during surgery; not to mention that my surgeon also repaired a hiatal hernia I did not know I had. It will be months before your body is completely healed. It would be wise not to push the envelope on anything for awhile. I would hate to see you have any setbacks in your recovery and your progress. Good luck to you on your journey!!! Know that your BP buddies are here to help, support, and encourage you. And be sure check with your surgeon's office when you have questions -- that's what you're paying them for post-surgery.

Lol wow I feel loved, sorry guys I should have been more specific, I too had a hernia, but on the day of my discharge from hospital I explained to Dr. My intentions of going to the gym, he asked to explain what I would be doing, and he said to pull away as soon as my body said to, so as I promised my wife I did a very light workout, treadmill, then circuit training focusing on my back shoulders chest and ended with legs, so when I go back on Thursday it will be treadmill, bicep, triceps, legs, no free weights or things like lunges, and squats, until 2 months out, I have been doing weight training for the last 20 years or so and I is the only thing other than swimming that I can be good about doing, that is how I know to gauge myself , it's very difficult when you've got 20lbs, and your mind and body wanna do 70 or 80lbs, but yeah I don't wanna go back to the hospital

I too had no pain, no nausea, no problems with fluids following surgery. I was back in the gym 6 days after, but it was only for walking (very slowly at first) on the treadmill. This time of year it's getting extremely hot in the Middle East and the treadmill was my best option. At 8 weeks post op I was cleared for light weights. I understand you feel great, and feel like getting back to "normal", but please be careful and take it easy. We have a lot of healing to do inside.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
