tdhaddox 118 Posted September 17, 2015 Like a few others, I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and totally have no problem sleeping on either side.
itstimealready 180 Posted September 26, 2015 My surgery is coming up and I am genuinely nervous about the sleeping because I can ONLY sleep on stomach - occasionally my side but I can't breathe on my back. Even during surgery I worry I'll choke. I will be in bad shape fast with no sleep. Any ideas?
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) I wasn't told how to sleep, and I slept on my stomach on the 4th day. I will say from my personal experience, a 45 degree angle was the MOST painful position to be in after surgery. It seems to put stress on your stomach muscles, and it makes it harder for things to go down. I learned real quick to not even slouch or it hurt. I asked for a ice pack put it on large incision and I didn't have ANY problems at all. I sleep on my right since day of surgery with no issues. You will be all good. Just use a Blanket or pillow to make it more comfortable:). Good Luck!!
Sharon1964 2,530 Posted September 27, 2015 I'm a left-side sleeper, and coming out of anesthesia in recovery, the first thing I did was grab the bedrail and turn over on my left. I've had no problem sleeping on my side and did it in the hospital.
Veronica_mm 87 Posted September 27, 2015 I couldn't sleep on my sides for 2 weeks. It was miserable.
