ZoeyBear 64 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm 10 weeks post-op. For the last 2 days, I've been getting that painful, too full feeling, after each meal! Twice I've had to make myself throw up to get any relief! I think I'm making a mistake by "guessing" how much food I'm eating. Wonder if I need to go back to measuring again? I see so many of you eating lots more at this point than I'm allowed, according to my plan, which is 3 ounces! Anyway, when you get that "too full" feeling, what do you do for relief? ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted June 17, 2015 You just hav to wait it out, then you learn and measure going forward. You don't want to overeat and stretch your sleeve.
LisaPunkinHead 187 Posted June 17, 2015 Weigh and measure -- forever. Also, slow down. Wait a minute between bites (from the time you swallow to the time you take the next bite). Chew thoroughly. Just go back to basics. 10 weeks post-op is not very long. I am almost four months out and I still weigh and measure.
liannatx 897 Posted June 17, 2015 I am just over 3 months out and only recently am able to eat 2.5 oz of solids. Find what amount is comfortable and stick with measuring it for a while longer. I hate that feeling, it is like the food is coming up my esophagus... it is worth measuring just to avoid it. I also have those little 4 oz Rubbermaid containers, and know that half full of anything is good without actually measuring. I use those to take lunch to work... and sometimes at home just for the convenience.
TammyDTM 391 Posted June 17, 2015 I don't think you should make yourself throw up. I've read other posts where they say you should wait it out. Don't drink anything for 40 minutes or more. Maybe walking might help.
Stevehud 1,790 Posted June 17, 2015 so many of us have ahard time with slowing down. and also everyones journey is different, some days i dont eat 4 ounces in one meal, of solids, also what type of food controls how much you can eat.
lclemur 161 Posted June 17, 2015 Ugh. Awful feeling. For me, moving around helps. Weighing and measuring is a p.i.t.a, but keeps one on track. I have been good, and not so good about it. Especially hard when I am eating out. You can stick one of those small rubbermaid containers in your purse and take it out when needed. I also purchased a tiny, cheap scale at Target that I use at home, and can stash in a bag/purse when I go out.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted June 17, 2015 Measuring portions and eating small bites slowly will help you avoid eating too much. If you are uncomfortable after one bite too many try raising your arms straight up over your head and/or standing up. That seems to give a little extra room until you start to digest. Mandyctr 75 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm nine weeks out and when that happened I learned I've got to eat slower and chew more thoroughly. And standing up and walking around helps me too.
Soapandcandlequeen 124 Posted June 19, 2015 I am not as far out as you post op but I have to measure my food out or I am tempted to eat too much, also flavors of food have been amplified so everything's tastes so good. I have to eat a little and then sit there for a bit then eat again
NoMoreWeightNJ 225 Posted June 20, 2015 This happened to me for the first time earlier this week (I'm 4 weeks post op) and I immediately stopped eating and walked away from my plate and kept walking until I felt better in about 2 minutes
LadyK44 263 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) I had to learn how to stop eating before the feeling starts. Portion Control is the key for me! It is still difficult to see how little is needed for me to eat and be healthy. Edited June 20, 2015 by LadyK44
DreamsComeTrue15 40 Posted June 20, 2015 How does everyone generally measure out? 3 or 4 oz? Or less?
Weighting2BeFree 164 Posted June 20, 2015 My stop signal is the burp. The moment I feel i could start burping, i stop. Also, I'm 12 weeks out and I've noticed my stricture is getting tighter. Or maybe the nerves are working better. All i know is two weeks ago, 1200 cals was fairly easy for me to eat. Now? This week I've barely hit 600 a day. Any one else notice this?
