So I was sleeved on 2/11/15 and have done phenomenal following the Dr's directions! I am drinking fluids, prioritizing Proteins, and doing everything I can to head in the right direction, including daily exercise! The last few days have been REALLY difficult, I have been getting the munchies and want to snack all afternoon and evening! I am doing good at keeping healthy choices around, but I really don't want this habit to come back....any suggestions? I know as activity levels increase you body is wanting more, but when I eat meals it's only a little bit here and there! Anyone else having the same challenges? Does it go away again?

first off, its not really true that your body WANTS more, your brain might make you think you want more, but you really only need to increase caloric intake if you are really heavily working out like 5 to 7 days a week for multiple hours. otherwise, you are fine.

Hi there, it does depend on your daily activity and what you have been eating earlier. When I exercise in the gym, I need more calories, so I up them by 100-200. On non work out days I eat around 1000 calories. I try and eat stay healthy Snacks throughout the day such as carrots, almonds, cashew nuts, yoghurt, banana or pieces of ham or a boiled egg. This kills the cravings for carbs or unhealthily foods. Also I found watching TV makes me want to snack, old habits. So I try to healthy stuff instead like a handful of cherries or have a Protein Bar. I have also found eating every 2-3 hours with healthy food kills the need to snack on wrong foods.

I'm in a munchie phase too. I've been below goal weight for almost two months, but I do get hungry. We've had lots of family in town this past week for a graduation, so we go from one eating event to another. So far, I've been able to keep my grazing to protein-based foods like nuts, cheese, and Jerky. Nuts are a particular trigger for me. As long as they're available, I keep going back for more. But since I'm still not eating much in the way of carbs, the insane amount of fat and calories I'm taking in don't seem to be affecting my weight. But I need to get out of the grazing habit, and that may mean keeping nuts out of reach. And I find that the best way to manage hunger is by drinking TONS of fluids. Typically I drink over 120 ounces of fluids (mostly Crystal Light or generic Decaf iced tea) every day. That keeps my sleeve full, and helps stave off hunger pangs. When I start feeling hungry and it's not meal or snack time, I just drink more. Unless there are nuts nearby, then all bets are off. Good luck, and stay full... of fluids!
