Heartburn / sour stomach

I am 3 months post surgery and I am often getting heartburn and or a sour stomach daily. Does anyone else experience this?

Do you take Prolisec? My Dr started all of us on 2 pills a day becausse he says we will all get acid reflux. Check with your Dr. Good luck!

YES. 4 weeks out and I usually chew 2-3 tums per day. I have never taken the 24 hour meds before but it is becoming regular enough that I am going to check into them

when i did my surgery , my doc gave me Prolisec and i had been taking it since day one and i figure i was good so i stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago, wrong move, i never experienced heartburn before so i had no idea what was wrong with me and i called the doc and she told me what it was, well i know that from now on i am taking my prolisec everyday, hope you feel better soon !!

Me too was the most disgusting feeling wake up in night with my throat burning surgeon put me on RX Prilosec for two months before and three months after surgery then my RX ran out and omg!!! within 24 hours it started talk about burning couldn't even eat cottage cheese went to store and bought over the counter acid reducer I've never experienced that either before the surgery I'm assuming I'll need these forever

I'm really surprised your surgeon didn't put you on a PPI immediately post-op. Excess acid is a VERY common problem for sleeve patients and too much acid can impede healing post-op. Most surgeons prescribe a PPI for the first month or two post-op and then longer if acid problems continue. I am 9 months post-op and still on 40mg omeprazole daily.
