ama2414 3 Posted June 16, 2015 Hi all! I just sent in my request for a consult for LapBand to Gastric Sleeve Revision surgery! Now I have some important questions: I've been doing CrossFit for the past 2+ years & I intend on continuing after surgery. Are there any fellow crossfitters here? I am wondering how soon after surgery you went back to class & how long until you were back to lifting your pre-surgery numbers? I don't want to lose all of the progress I've made so far at CrossFit. I also am feeling very much like a failure because I couldn't lose the weight by just following a healthy eating plan and exercising. How do you deal with the crossfit critics? I haven't told anyone at my gym yet because I'm scared of their responses. Help!! Thanks! Amanda
Chrystee 838 Posted June 17, 2015 I crossfit.. I had to take a 2 week break from heavy exercise, and a 4 week break from lifting heavy. I had surgery in March, and I exercise heavy, but I haven't really officially went back to crossfit (for other reasons: $$) but I still lift when I can.. Carriejess 27 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm a cross fitter and a band to bypass revision. I moved at the same time as surgery and I'm finding it hard to get childcare to watch my toddlers to go to class. I'm also getting married in sept and my box know that I won't go back until after the wedding and kids go to school. They don't know I had a revision so I guess it will be a shock! Like you I couldn't lose the weight with cross fit and healthy excercise, they should support you whatever and work around your needs. It should b a supportive environment! Heatherrc1 37 Posted June 18, 2015 I'm a cross fitter myself and my box has the best folks part of it. I have had to take a break for a bit for the same reasons. I have tried the paleo diet and like you not able to lose the weight. I'm anxious to have surgery and get healed up and head back to torture chamber. I dread those squats and using the commode! ???? Most people I have met that are part of the cross fit world are super encouraging and only want you to be happy and healthy.
