Today is my 15th day post-op and my doctor is not ready to release me to go back to work. I don't care to go back either because we only have 7-more days before school closes, but I feel bad being out for almost a month. How long did it take you guys after surgery to return to work?

I went back at 2 weeks, but definitely needed 3 or 4. Take the time you feel you need. I learned my lesson and with my Tummy Tuck I quit caring about what people at work thought and I took the extra time I needed. Good luck to you on your return!

I took four weeks off and I was glad I did. I used that time to learn how to eat and drink slowly, took naps when I needed, and walked everyday. When I did go back I felt completely recovered. That being said, everyone is different. Good luck on your surgery!

I'm taking four weeks off because I work in a lab and it demands for me to do a lot of walking/standing and mental work... which I'd find hard to stay focused since I'd probably be thinking about how to not let anyone else in the lab know that I had the surgery.

My program has me on food levels... so for now I'm eating 1/4 cup of yogurt. Not enough for continuous movement.

They gave me three weeks off. I go back Sunday and had surgery on 5/28. I went to my surgeon today and asked for an extra week due to fatigue. My surgeon said no and I am really upset

I am a teacher so school closes June 26, I have been off since June 1 my surgery date. I just don't feel right. My job is stressful and I have a hard time getting enough energy since the surgery especially on a full liquid diet.

I went back after one week and regretted it. I was back for a few days then the snow saved me as they called work off for almost two weeks.

I got sleeved on 5/19/15 and returned to work exactly one week after on 5/26/15. I will say that it all depends on each person's body method of healing. I was driving already by the time i left the hospital which was 3 days after surgery. Take your time in coming back to work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
