Am I close to green?

Recommended Posts

Surgery was March 9, 2015. No weight lost. Nothing. Zero. Got my third fill 2 weeks ago and now have to be careful to chew and take small bites or I'll feel stuck, slime, etc. No change in appetite at all though. Still could eat and eat. Does this mean I am getting close to the green zone?? I can't wait to not be thinking about food all the time!

@@Miss Sue I want to tell you that the greenzone is the magic bullet, but it's not what you think it is. You are newly banded, and it's going to take some time for your mind to adjust to not wanting to eat and eat.

Just because you "can" eat doesn't mean you should eat. Are you hungry? Are you measuring out your portions? When you finish the portion are you content? Can you walk away from the food for 10-15 and assess your hunger level?

Eat your portion and only eat more if you are hungry, truly hungry not just head hunger or emotional hunger, or boredom hunger.

Our relationship with food can be something that it take time to figure out. I am still working on the relationship I have with my food and my emotions.

Give yourself a chance to learn what your relationship, and begin to understand it. In the mean time...measure your food out for meals, and assess your hunger.

I honestly think the green zone means something different for everyone. I firmly believe I am there. I can easily go 4-6 hours between meals. I am full before my 4oz is done, IF I listen to my belly and not my mind. And that is still a battle. I honestly still miss the way I used to eat. Completely. But what I don't miss is the 100lbs I've lost, ????.

I am lucky and got to green quick. Honestly with my 2nd fill and only 1.2cc's in my band. However I don't feel what a lot of people say they feel. I can pretty much eat anything but bread. meat doesn't bother me. Pasta doesn't bother me. Not much does really. At 1st I thought that meant there's no way I can be in green because I don't have 'issues'. But all signs point to green so I say I'm there!

It's definitely a mind game as well. Just honestly try to listen to your belly, not your head hunger and enjoy the restriction the band gives you.

Good luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
