Why Can't I Burp? Plus Constant Yawning and Involuntary Deep Breaths

Recommended Posts

Can someone please help (and sorry if this is a regular question). I can't burp and the trapped wind/gas is driving me insane behind my left boob. I am 4 days post-op and unable to wear a bra because of the discomfort.

I feel the build up and it gets half way up my chest. Its only occasionally really painful but always uncomfortable. Just as I think there is going to be a final push and I will get some relief, nothing happens. I just can't burp!

This may be connected to some other things going on, the first of which is yawning. I am yawning every couple of minutes or so but don't feel tired. Its more like I am stretching inside lol. The second thing is every now and then, with no control, I am taking a really deep (from the centre of my tummy) involuntary breath.

Any advice on one, two or all three of these things would be really appreciated. Even if it's just the reassurance that it has happened to you too would be a relief (oh and an idea of how long my body plans on keeping this up)

Thanks in advance :-)

It's a very common problem I think. I was in so much pain for the first 2 weeks. And sleeping on my right side did EVERYTHING for me, it helped loosen up the air.

About burping, I love burping now, feels so good haha. After not being able to burp for days, I get so happy when it finally comes.

I usually burped when I was picking something up from the floor. I guess bending over pressures the air somehow.

Hope the bending over and sleeping on the right side helps.
