Tracan 11 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) I swear last week the scale at the local doctors office said 313 and today it said 318. A 5 pound gain? I cant eat anything nor have I eaten anything. I know about the stalls but this has me stumped. Edited June 15, 2015 by Tracan
BestDayEver 418 Posted June 15, 2015 I question the accuracy of the scale. Maybe you're retaining fluids? Whatever, do your best to ignore it and soldier on - you will lose weight. ????
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted June 15, 2015 Were you weighed at a different time of day than last time? Where you wearing different clothes? Stalls do happen, especially right around the time you are at. But I sincerely doubt you've gained 5 pounds of real weight. It was wither Water retention or some sort of problem with the scale itself.
TammyDTM 391 Posted June 15, 2015 Get a scale to keep at home. Weigh once a week, in the morning before Breakfast, wearing nothing.
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted June 15, 2015 Get a scale to keep at home. Weigh once a week, in the morning before Breakfast, wearing nothing. That's what I do. Monday mornings, after I pee, but before I eat/drink, and naked.
MissLiss 71 Posted June 15, 2015 scale has got to be broken! LOL...The last scale that did that to me made friends with the dumpster...lol I see a lot of variance between my scale at home and the doctor's scale. Time of day, clothes, shoes on or off and even if they weighed you on a different scale makes a difference. I'm sure you are not up a true 5 pounds..If your clothes are feeling good you should be right on track.
Mooseknuckle 85 Posted June 15, 2015 I am 5 weeks out and I stalled on weight loss on week 3 to week 4 I actually gained 3 lbs but now I am loosing again and I do not eat much at all. I cannot over eat because it feels like a knife stabbing in my sternum if I eat one baby spoon full more than what I should and I suffer I do not know how anyone can over eat lol it is impossible for me to over eat . I will not go through that pain again . It took at the least 30 minutes to have the pain go away. I have lost 40 lbs as of today which is my 5 week surgeversary. I am very excited about what it will be like 1 yr out. This is such a great place to get support and advise. Most everyone in here has been through this or going through this. Thank you to all who have given me advise and uplift
Tracan 11 Posted June 16, 2015 Thanks all. I hope its just Water. I weigh at our local health unit with one of the scales that you move the weight back and forth on the top so I think its pretty accurate. Only work shirt pants nothing in my pockets both times. Its a mystery but hopefully it will not be there next week!!
Mooseknuckle 85 Posted December 23, 2015 Just wondering how everyone is doing . I have been out of these posts for a few months and didn't know why but I hope all are doing great . I hope I can help someone else along and share my experience. For one thing it has been great and this is the best change in my life i have ever accomplished. I went to a restaurant with my family the other day and sitting at a booth was not happening because I couldn't fit unless they have chairs. Anyway I sat at a booth with the family and I had 6 inches to spare . Talk about a smile lol. I was proud to walk my daughter down the isle in September and that was 40 lbs ago. Thanks to all for their support this is such a great group of people.
JamieLogical 8,713 Posted December 23, 2015 @@Mooseknuckle Glad to here you are doing so well! It really is crazy how significantly WLS impacts all facets of our lives. It's so much more than just numbers on a scale!
Mooseknuckle 85 Posted December 23, 2015 That is so true it is all about what and how you feel . The scale is the smallest accomplishment in this road to success. It is looking in the mirror and saying dang you look good lol. The clothes you fit into and the other folks that see the happiness in your face and spirit. JamieLogical 8,713 Posted December 23, 2015 By the way thank you Jamie and the same to you on your accomplishments. You have came along way too . I have a small rd to go up yet but I can see the reward at the end lol I reached goal just before my one year mark. It's a marathon, not a sprint. As long as you follow your plan and do everything you need to do, you'll get to goal eventually. The real trick for me now is finding the balance now that I'm at goal. Initially I kept losing and didn't want to, so I made some changes to try to stop the weight loss and now I've gained a couple of pounds back (still at goal, but back from my below goal weight). I know I'll get it figured out eventually!
Mooseknuckle 85 Posted December 23, 2015 Congratulations. I have a few months to go yet to get at a year . I am sure I will hit my goal
emilymarie822 1 Posted December 24, 2015 Same thing happened to me. The morning of my doctors appointment I weighed myself at home and I was 189. When they weighed me at the doctors office and I was 184. I just accepted that the scales were different, and that either way, I was still losing weight!
