titan05 174 Posted June 15, 2015 I am 45 year old male 5'10 /260 pounds with a failed band. Very apprehensive about revision surgery. I have cancelled my date twice and was ready to go June 7 but my doctor has to cancel and reschedule for June 23. Beginning to second guess this decision. I know several people that have had great success. Any advice is welcome!
LSF 264 Posted June 15, 2015 I say get it!! I had the revision in February. Recovery was easy and since we've already been through it before, I already knew what to do and expect. Just happy to get the band out before any serious complications. And with the sleeve, I feel "full" not stuck. Just go for it!! Good luck ????????
NewNewMe 277 Posted June 15, 2015 I wanted to back out too! After I had my revision and my doctor told me what a horrible state my stomach was in from that band I am so happy I went through with it. I would have ended up with emergency surgery eventually. And I had no idea that my band had caused that damage. The surgery and recovery was way easier than I thought. I am very happy I did it. I now have a tool that works the way I dreamed the band would but never did. I feel so much better with that band gone.
hockeyfan7 249 Posted June 16, 2015 I had my revision on June 1 so I'm 2 weeks out. I am totally happy so far. With the band I was throwing up all the foods I was supposed to eat and was eating anything that would stay down so I was gaining. After 3 months of trying to get the band adjusted my surgeon and I made the decision to switch. I've lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks. So far I have had zero instances of throwing up or nausea or anything and I have been able to tolerate a lot of foods. I haven't found anything that is bothering me yet. My surgeon used the same incisions as the band so I don't have new incisions. He took the band out and did the sleeve in the same surgery. I was in the hospital for two days and then home. No complications at this point.
