June 29th Bypass Surgery

Recommended Posts

I went out and walked today!! Found a beautiful walking trail in my hometown that is dog friendly! God, it felt so good to move again and not have any pain. My hips would bother me before. Now, nothing. Gonna try to do it again tomorrow.

I want a plum so bad!!! I'm a little intimidated by the sugar though considering I dumped from a smoothie 2 weeks ago. It could've been bc it was so early though. Going to the dr on Monday. I'm going to ask them then.

OK so I just threw up food for the first time. It was not pleasant. This is my first day I can have something other than purees.I think I either ate too fast or it got stuck. Never the less it was not fun.

Aw I'm sorry to hear ! Nice and slow, even if you are hungry and just want to eat normally lol I haven't thrown up yet, I'm dreading the day it happens ! On a brighter note, today is my one month "surgiversay" yay :) I should also add I called out of work today because I'm in pain. Hope you feel better !

Too fast, too big of bites, and don't chew enough is usually the cause from what my team told me. But there are just retain foods that your body doesn't want to deal with too I think

Make sure that you are chewing your food good until it's liquid form. It will come as you go along in the process. I have threw up two or three times and believe me it's nothing that anyone wants to go threw. It's miserable it takes along of energy from you. I hope you feel better.

So one thing that has happened to me... may be a little tmi, haha. I haven't had a regular period in like 7 years or so to the point where I would go a year and a half without one ect. Well I had one right after the surgery, and then right at a month later.... so looks like that's starting to turn around

Oh... Yes ma'am your hormones are getting back regulated. I had my period a week after surgery which was five days and done. It was somewhat regular before that, but I had to take birth control to regulate my period. My doctor said that my hormones were off balance due to my weight.

Mine just stopped after like 3 weeks of having it! It was so annoying! I was about to go to the dr because I thought something was wrong.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
