is the three week stall really a thing?

Recommended Posts

I am four weeks out.

I made my husband hide my scale because it didnt move in four days and I freaked out. I googled and it seems lots of people talk about a three week stall.

Did any else experience this?

I am going to the gym 5 times a week and trying to get all my protien in. I am just not sure what to do?

Chin up and eye on the prize! I haven't had my surgery yet but yes, I see from the forum that the 3-week stall is quite common. I plan to treat it as a tiny hurdle along a lengthy journey - I'm sure the human body is still going through changes even though they may not be reflected on the scale. People report they're still losing inches but the scale doesn't move. Keep looking far into the future at the new you and try not to worry about what the scale says today. We're not embarking on this journey to be a slave to the scale. We're doing this to get a healthier body. That's the ultimate reward!

I plan on ditching the scale and measuring instead. I've had far too close a relationship with it and I don't want to go insane.

Yes, the 3 week stall is real. The scale doesn't move but the inches keep going. Mine lasted 9 days. some last longer and some shorter. Just hang in there, your body has been through a major change and has to catch up. It seems to happen to everyone.

It is real! However mine occurred at week 4! Thankfully it only lasted a week and I am losing again.

I think it happened to me too. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out with little to no change in 4 or 5 days. I got upset and stayed off the scale for a few days but I'm going to check in the morning. I think I'm down a few lbs by now.

I was sleeved 6/1, lost 16 lbs in two weeks now I am at a standstill for 3 days. I have gone from about 275/350cal a day 500/650 cal a day. I'm thinking my body has to adjust to the additional calories????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
