How far out are you? If you're cleared for all food then technically you are not medically restricted in what you eat. If you're only a few weeks out, the 9 grain bread that I sometimes have has seeds, so you'd want to avoid that for awhile.

Past that, the sleeve is nice because whatever you want to eat, you can. Is any form of bread and Pasta something that is going to contribute to weight loss? No, but if you can eat it in moderation, then go for it. I eat bread on a sandwich probably 2-4 times a week and Pasta maybe every few months. My sleeve likes to barf a lot and pasta doesn't tend to go over very well. I track my calories in MyFitnessPal, so if I have a sandwich with bread, I know that I just eat less later during the day. Likewise if I eat a cookie, the same applies. Take small bites at first until you find what your stomach will tolerate.

Sure. Just be warned it MAY slow your weight loss down.

I find carbs to be a slippery slope for me. When I eat them, I crave more and also sweets. That's why I choose to mostly stay away from them. At almost 10 months out, and 12lbs from goal, I just recently started incorporating a few into my diet again in the form of whole grains. But then I suffer the cravings for a couple days until I "detox" again. But that's just me.

I also believe if you are early out from surgery, you should be more worried about Protein, not carbs.

My surgical team has a strict post-op eating plan that includes NO grains of any sort, zero, nada, zilch until you reach goal.

I wandered off plan before I should have, and learned that for me (1) grains fuel hunger and carb cravings, thus slowing (or reversing) weight loss and (2) any sort of bread made with yeast just doesn't work for me anymore. Two bites and I feel, weird, over-stuffed, almost in pain. Not even worth it. Not everyone has that reaction though. But for me, bread made with yeast is a no-go for the rest of my life and I am okay with that.

I am back on track, having removed grains and starchy veggies from my diet. Not having trouble staying on track and my weight loss is coming along nicely again. I would personally advise staying away from bread, it doesn't have much to offer in terms of nutrition but way too much too offer in terms of messing with blood sugar, head hunger, cravings, etc. Just my two cents!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
