I had my surgery on May 28th. Everything was going well until two days ago. I have now been experiencing nausea for two days and I am struggling to eat or drink. Should I be worried? Will this pass?

What are you eating? How much and how fast are you eating? If I were you I'd be checking with my surgical team. Are you throwing up food or foam? If something got stuck in your new stomach ... Meanwhile, drink Peppermint tea. It will help.

I experienced a lot of nausea after surgery, too. Mine was May 19, and now it has subsided almost totally. I happened to have some Zofran lying around, but then I started taking OTC meclizine (the non-drowsy Dramamine) and it helped too (I got a bottle of 100 chewable tabs from costco pharmacy for like $4). From what I understand it's a common side effect of GI surgery, which makes sense since your brain has no idea what's going on in there. As long as you have no sensitivities, the meclizine will also help with vertigo. It was much easier for me to deal with when I had something on hand to alleviate it.

Most of the time that nausea is due to not enough liquids. It can really create havoc on your body.

My surgery was on May 18th. Having difficulty getting everything in including fluids. Yesterday I was at a grad party and it was hot and humid. It was hard trying to stay hydrated. By 530 I was so nauseated. I had to go home.

I was also May 28. I started feeling dizzy two days ago. Yesterday nausea started too. Now today both dizziness and nausea have not gotten better. This really has me down/sad, dizziness has kept me from doing anything, all I can do is lay down. I have been drinking the required amount of liquid. Called my surgeon, they want me to go in tomorrow, might give me iv fluids. I don't really think that dehydration is the cause, we will see!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
