Yes in the beginning you're going to feel EVERYTHING as it travels down to your stomach and gets settled. For me it was like a bad ache that went away after a few seconds, almost like a contraction!

I was sleeved on Monday and I'm doing great. They all thought I was a rockstar at the hospital, I even got discharged a day early. Yesterday was my first full day home and I drank 3 shakes and got in 58 grams of Protein. I thought I'd be struggling more! Today I'll get 62 grams in. Yesterday I even drove my 3 kids to the dentist 20 minutes away. That was a bit much and I probably shouldn't have done it but I did. Today I had to bring my daughter to and from camp, but that a shorter drive in town. I'm pretty pleased with how well everything is going!

I am two days out now, feeling a lot better than the first day! I'm sipping constantly throughout the day. I wish I could rid myself of the horrible gas pains though, the actual incisions don't hurt much!

I had mine on Wednesday. I agree w you about the gas pains. And is it just me - it feels weird drinking like it hits something and then drops? And I have like a million belly noises and pains inside (not incisions). I am having a hard time w the liquids. Yesterday I got 20 oz Water in and a 1/2 Protein Shake. I am trying to sip all day and walk. It's really hard. How are you doing w intake?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
