Ugh I'm messing up already

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on May 26th and I have been having the craziest time ever. I'm now on pureed how ever I have an issue with certain texture of foods so I wouldn't eat mushy foods. Now it still hurts to eat but I'm always hungry I find myself eating crap that is not good ie ramen noodles and rice with lots of gravy. I've noticed now I'm not losing weight. I just need more ideas for pureed foods and soft foods that are healthy. Keep in mind I was dehydrated my first week home and I finally have a little energy to move around

Funny as it might be, it's pretty tasty when it's done the right way!

May I ask what kinds of foods you were pureeing that you had a texture problem with? I, myself, have a pretty picky palette that way.

If you can't find soft foods you like you can also still use liquid supplements to get your Protein. You don't have to default to noodles and other carbs.

When I was on soft foods I lived on yogurt, cottage cheese, refried Beans, Soup, pudding, eggs, and Protein shakes. The second week of soft foods I was allowed soft fish so I added tuna, tilapia, and salmon to the mix. Each phase builds on the previous phases so you can continuously add foods to your options.

I struggled with veggies when I was on pureed. I tend to like my veggies raw or steamed crunchy, which was obviously not an option. I ended up getting some baby food that had fruit and veggies blended together and I mixed a little Protein powder in. Other than that I at Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and eggs. I pureed hard boiled eggs with light mayo and a little mustard and that was good.

You will probably be less hungry if you get more Protein.< /p>

I was sleeved the same day. I am not hungry at all but I have found that i love Greek yogurt and refried Beans with mozzarella cheese and sour cream, I hated refried beans before and love them now.

Stay away from noodles and rice, the carbs will make you more hungry, not less hungry.

Try refried Beans, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, Eggface's ricotta bake, Protein Shakes -- things like that.

Loved refried Beans. It was definitely a go-to. I could also have flakey fish those weeks. Lived on tuna, salmon, and tilapia. I also had eggs.

I recently found myself in this same boat yesterday (three weeks post op). I was at a friend's kid's bday party and I had some chicharrón, a lumpia, and few bites of cake (few chips of chicharron in the early morning, 1.5 lumpia at the afternoon, and a few bites of cake before I left around 8...the whole day was soooo bad). I'm so upset with myself. But today is a new day and I gotta get back on the healthy road and I hope you will too!

Refried Beans are amazing! Unsweetened apple sauce, fat free/sugar free pudding, tuna in Water in the can or pouch, salmon in a can/pouch, chicken salad, Greek yogurt, Baby Bel cheese reg or light, Laughing cow cheese, baby food, wet scrambled egg whites are things that I lived on in week 3 through 5.

@@Tanika81 you have some great ideas for pureed foods - I just cant get eat egg whites. I would rather NOT eat an egg if I have to eat just the whites. I would scrambled one and add FF cheese and then some salt free seasonings:D

A couple of other options are SF Jello and even strained FF Soups. I liked the broccoli cheddar. I didn't care too much for the broths or bouillon cubes. The rice and noodles are the problem because of the carbs.

Hi @@bb3586, Yup, if you're eating noodles and rice you're messing up already. Time to knock it off! Soups without carbs are good early on, especially cream-based soups and chicken broth that go down easy. And don't forget about the Protein shakes and Greek yogurts. Once you get on soft foods, tuna salad and chicken salad are easy to manage. You need to fill up on Protein first, then green veggies, not carbs. If your doctor didn't give you instructions on how to eat, below is a link to a web site that can help. Please take advantage of this amazing opportunity and follow the rules. That's the only way it works. We're all pulling for you, but you'll have to make the good, and sometimes difficult choices. As you get further and further away from sugar and starches, they become easier and easier to resist. Two other thoughts for you... 1) make sure you're taking a proton-pump-inhibitor like Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium, or Protonix (prescribed by your doctor), and 2) make sure you're drinking lots of fluids -- after surgery hunger is often thirst in disguise. And use your doctor's office for advice too! Good luck!!! Okay, here's that link. http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/bariatric-diet.html

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
