Thank you for posting everyone. I'm day 3 post op with severe spasms and shoulder pain and just feeling tired and bummed. So happy that it gets better

Ok so I am now 9 days post op and the spasms have finally stopped. My surgeon told me to buy buscopan tablets from pharmacy which helped immensely. I finally feel I've turned the corner :-)

I am also 9 days post op now and finally feeling pretty good again. I was swollen like a beach ball until last night. This morning it finally came down significantly! Hooray! I am also no longer having the spasms. Hang in there it really does get better.

This has definitely been a tougher recovery than I anticipated. However, I am still glad I chose this and am excited to have my new tool helping me change my life!

June 10 was surgery day. During this recovery stage, I've regretted it every day so far. I think it could bet anxiety getting to me. The discomfort and pain I'm in makes me feel like I've been defeated. That I had to go through this extreme to lose weight.

When will the pain and discomfort end? When will it get better ????

Are you feeling any better yet?

Thank you for asking. I feel really good. However there are days where the port area hurts and seems to swell ( bulge out). I'm not sure why. Really I'm just dealing with it.

My port area hurts too, I think it's pretty normal. I'm glad your feeling better. This surgery really effects your body physically and mentally more than I thought it would. Hang in there

Amen to that! You said it right. Definitely mentally along with physically. I've been an emotional rollercoaster. I just keep here for positive thoughts, and keep in mind that it will get better. Hope all is well with you. ????????????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
