I'm way better during the day than evening. I just way ate too fast a cup of miso Soup and sugar free hot chocolate and now I feel like barfing. I also pathetically licked my fingers after feeding my daughter chik fil a chicken fingers. Lord help me.

I feel the same way! I'm 10 days post op and tried to chew the life out of a strawberry and was sick the whole night! I don't want to eat everything but it would be nice to be able to enjoy some things

I'm five days out and today was a spoonful of mashed potatoes...it was soooo good but got that chest pain and panic that I was doomed! It's hard not to enjoy the fruits of summer or a great BBQ but it's not forever...this is practice for our maintenance diet which, at some point, will let us enjoy a strawberry or two! Hang in there...I feel your pain and you are not alone!

So you were able to swallow it fine? I think once I'm on full liquid it will be easier. More variety and maybe more satisfying than broth. One more cup of miso Soup and I'll croak. But by 3:30 if I don't have some I lose all my energy.

I was 11 days out, had a boneless chicken thigh with fat free gravy last night, I had to try as liquid fiid is getting me down. I had no issues with the chicken at all so I had another today for lunch. Tonight I'm trying lemon pepper baked cod, I'm 12 days right now

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
