Two Weeks Post Op Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I had my surgery on June 2nd along with my gallbladder removed. It was kind of an emergency surgery for my gallbladder and I didn't go through preop diet. I finally got up the nerve to step on the scale this morning and I have lost 15lbs. I am kinda disappointed ... should I have lost more weight by now? Is this good progress?

I had lost 15 lbs at 2 weeks and then went on stall. Today at 20 pounds and I was sleeved on May 20. So you are doing fine.

Congratulations on the surgery! Without knowing your starting weight, it's a bit harder to know if you are truly losing on average with the rest of us, but it's a good starting point nevertheless. Keep going...

15 lbs in 11 days is phenomenal when you stop and think about it. You're going to shed that early weight pretty quickly. Just keep up with your Protein and Water intake and it will continue to fall. Just some advice for heading into week 3, stay off the scale for at least 2 weeks. I unfortunately did not and when the inevitable stall hit me, it sort of bummed me out even though I knew it was coming. Your body cannot simply drop all that weight without slowing down at some point. Keep up the great work, stick to your diet instructions and you'll drop that weight in no-time!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
