Finally Home after surgery!

Recommended Posts

I can honestly say it wasnt as bad as I thought. Surgery went smooth. I have had some moderate discomfort. But overall not too bad experience... Hardest part was taking initial sips of water! You have to walk walk walk walk walk, it helps expell the gases that were pupmed into your body durring surery! Drinking is a big challenge for me and I cant think of eating nothing! My surgical team was amazing, Dr Richard Nguyen is a very skilled surgeon and very dedicated to his patients. Good Samaritan hospitol staff was super caring and supportive through my entire stage! Now Im home wishing I was back for a little extra TLC!!!

Thank you Ladies awe yes it feels great to be home. But its a little diffrent when you dont have a nurse coming in to remind you to drink your water.. . I cant pallate anything. Not even popsicles! For me right now it is hard to keep hydrated! I can sip down 64 oz of Water its super hard I tried a little tea which is a little better cause it was warm but still it produces so much belching and thats all that gas you have to pass! I am praying it will get better day by day! On another note my pain med that the dr perscribed where not covered by my insurance so now I got to come up with $156.00 and I have already paid for so much stuff I didnt realize I would need....We will see tomorrow if I can ask someone to loan me the cash for my meds. Anyway good luck to all of you. You all will do great Im sure of it!!! Thanks for all the well wishes !

Congrats! It will get easier... I was sleeves on June 3 and from the 4-6th all I did was sip Water, ice chips, and apple juice (not too often either). I had no desire for it, also I was nauseous those first 4 days so when I did it came back up sometimes. Eventually everything subsided and I was able to get in 2-3 Protein Shakes, Jello mixed with greek yogurt (yummy treat n good for u lots of protein!), and the sinless Popsicles! I went to dr on fri which was a week after my discharge and 9 days from surgery and I already lost 12lbs frm the day of surgery! I though that was a nice little kickstart to keep me positive and motivated. Dr also said since I was tolerating the liquids so good that I can move on to purée's or mushies! That was big cuz there a better variety of things u can have. I love homemade oatmeal so that was my first mushie and it worked out great, and now this morning I get to try soft scrambled eggs. Which works out perfect cuz I make sure to make them every sat for my kid, so Atleast it's a meal I can finally share with her. Anyway I tell you this because you will not feel like that too long. Tho everyone is different, we all had a big portion of our stomach removed so it's expected to not be able to take in much the first few days. Just try keep trying a little bit at a time and you will build up the tolerance. Good luck and hang in there! From a person who's had the band, then removed it along with some intestines, and now a sleeve; I can tell you it gets easier!

Feel better lady!✌️

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
