My favorite meal, how much could one finish post sleeve..in n out burger with fries and shake

My fear was I would never be able to enjoy this again. I went and got the meal, had to take all the good veg off my burger for space, able to eat about 3/4 of it and was completely disgusted. Fries were just ok, only able to eat a couple. chocolate shake was put in the freezer and forgotten about. No feel-goods from it anymore, it was just meh to eat. I don't miss it like I thought I would.

I was addicted to my morning cup of black coffee from McDonald's. Seven days a week a large black coffee. I couldn't wait to have some so ordered a small one day and it was so gross I wasn't able to finish it. At least now I know this is something I can live without going forward. I would love to hear more stories of food taste changes post surgery. I was told this would happen and I find it fascinating.

I did kind of the same thing a couple months out from my surgery. My favorite food in the whole world pre-op was Red Baron 4 cheese pizza. I would easily eat a whole one in a sitting and did so about once a week when I wasn't dieting. Well, I tried to eat some of one maybe 2 months post-op? I finished one whole slice and the cheese off the top of a second slice. Felt SOOOOOO sick and overfull and I haven't bothered again since then. Didn't even eat the leftovers from that first one. They went in the trash after sitting in the fridge for about two weeks. Back then I was a little sad that I couldn't enjoy my favorite food anymore, but now I am totally over it.

Isn't it interesting what we are learning about ourselves post surgery and as we adjust to life with a new tummy?

I was afraid that my tastes would change and that maybe I wouldn't like my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes anymore, or that spicy Chinese food would not taste good or that my new tummy wouldn't like it, or that I couldn't enjoy my favorite salads anymore. Fortunately for me, I still like my Unjury shakes, spicy Chinese (NO rice) does not upset my tummy and I can eat my favorite salads although it takes me at least 2 meals to eat a whole one (i.e. strawberry fields from Wendy's). Of course, with any solid foods my typical serving size is about 1/2 cup (yes, I measure), and a few things a little bit more. Still learning to navigate some of the portions/boundaries. Definitely a learning process. Sometimes just two bites of something is all that is needed to satisfy my taste for a particular food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
