Can you guys describe "slime"? What actually happens when you slime? I see it all the time, and I think I know what you mean, but I want to be sure what is happening to me is the same thing.

What Slime is to me is really thick saliva that looks like slime. food doesnt always come up when I slime, it is just clear slime. Anything else coming up, with substance (Food), I think of as a pb.

Does it always come up though? Sometimes, I get thick mucous in the back of my throat. Kind of like post nasal drip but much thicker. It goes down my throat and I find it after I eat too much.

I've frothed in that I've "thrown up" the frothy gunk but I was wondering if this is related?

The times I've slimed, is when I eat to fast and food is trying to go thru the pouch, sliming is a way your body helps the food pass thru, however, it is clogged, the slime comes up to your mouth. Its like a thick whad of snot in my mouth - so gross. You can't swallow it because it will keep coming back up. I have to keep spitting in a cup, totally grosses my kids out. lol.

I think people might experience differently, but sounds like your an official bandster and you have experienced SLIME. Welcome to Bandland.

Well thanks for the welcome! It's good to be here, slime and all!

Thanks for the post. Sunshine, you are doing AMAZING! You are a big inspiration (or should I say small inspiration as nothing about you is big anymore!) to me as we are similar ages with similar starting and goal BMI. You've done great in such a short time. Good for you. I hope in 6 months I am doing as well as you!

Your already doing GREAT! Some people experience fast weightloss in the beginning, while others experience it after hitting the "sweet spot". I have experienced it in the beginning, but it has slowed down now. I haven't lost any weight in the past 3 weeks. But I'm okay with it, I am scheduled for another fill on Friday and I know the weight will start coming off again. Plus, the closer you get to goal, the slower the weight will start coming off.

When I've slimed, I'm sort of throwing up, but all it is, is this egg-white consistency clear stuff that comes up... I have to spit into a cup to avoid it. I've only had it happen once. It didn't all come up at once, and I had these thick ropes of stuff hanging from my mouth. SO gross. I am working my butt off to insure it doesn't happen again.

Slime is not really all that 'disgusting'... to me it's just like thicker saliva. it has no taste or anything. It's just an annoyance and it reminds you that you've done something wrong!! So you just learn from it and try not to repeat that behavior (or food) again. If you're banded you WILL slime at some point....almost guaranteed.

OK, thanks, I'm glad it's not so bad. But what does cause someone to slime? How can you avoid it?

The top 3 reasons for sliming/pb'ing/getting stuck are:

1. Too big of bites

2. Eating too fast or too much

3. Not chewing well enough

It can also be caused by having too much of a fill, and there are other reasons, but they are much less common than the big 3 listed above.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
