I am sorry

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for carrying on about my primary and secondary insurance problems. I have been very insensative to those of you who have no insurance or who have been turned down. Please accept my sincerest apologies.:faint:

Oh goodness, don't let one person get to you. I know how very frustrating it is to get your insurance to pay for this. I fought mine a bit, but nothing like some folks have had to do. I know that there is at least one person here who didn't want to deal with the fight so she just self-paid. I was too bull-headed, I figure that I pay for insurace, so they should pay out for me. I was lucky I didn't have an exclusion in my policy, I actually switched companies twice to get it paid for.

Our frustrations with insurance are probably as painful to us as someone who HAS to self-pay and the frustrations they have trying to find financing.

Don't feel bad, okay?

We're here to support one another, through it all. I know I responded that I had a 12 month diet requirement, I wasn't getting down on you, I was just offering some insight that others have other struggles, too.

I hope you get it all straightened out soon!

Faithmd,

It was not you I was reading and realized how selfish I was being. I love this site and rely on it to help me. I never want to offend someone. OK only if they really need it lol.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
