Guest avery brooks Posted October 31, 2004 I have the hiccups going on 24 hours now , I am worn out any suggestions ? I had a new fill to 2.7 cc and yes it is toooo tight I can only eat ice chips ,it was ok one wed and thursday and friday morning , Then around 4 I took a bite of licorice and Said why did I do that ??? Ithink it is stuck and will not go through the band I am miserable a terrible pain between my breats throwing up and hiccuping . I will call my doc in the am , he is three hours away , I kept hoping it would pass. Thanks for any feedback Avery
New Hope 37 Posted October 31, 2004 Try a little bit of Peanut Butter. The oil may help the licorice slide on through. Good luck! Please see about a slight unfill as soon as you reasonably can.
New Hope 37 Posted October 31, 2004 Did you say you are throwing up? This is very dangerous, especially if you've been doing it for a while. Please don't neglect seeking help. Have you called your surgeon? He/she should have a contact number.
La_madam 20 Posted October 31, 2004 What about some hot Water or hot tea.. hot liquids seem to open my band up. Maybe it will help get the licorice to pass through...its worth a try.
Guest avery brooks Posted October 31, 2004 Thanks for your repiles , I have tried hot tea I threw it up , I will try the Peanut Butter I have to go get some. I think if I tried that I could quit hiccuping. My docs are three hours away they would just tell me to go to the er and I did all they could do myself , Got an IV going some antoibiotics ( I have a sinus infection which does not help the nausesa with the drainage )I am about ready to take some Fluid out myself if he talked me through it.I also gave myself some nausea meds , It has slowed down but I am also only sucking on ice chips. The only good thigs is I have lost 4 pounds in the last three days , NOT worth the pain though I am having. avery
Guest avery brooks Posted October 31, 2004 Well the Peanut Butter did not help I drank. a tsp of olive oil that helped the most , everytime I drink Water I start hiccuping for several minutes and then i guess when it goes down I stop.I think if I get an unfill of like .4cc it will make all the difference. I called my doc and the answering machine says they are open M-f if it is an emergency then go to an er.I think as long as I get some fluids down I will be ok until tomorrow . I just hate the drive to dallas and back it is 7 hours of time . Avery

Zoe 6 Posted October 31, 2004 Hi Avery -- I haven't had the hiccups since I was banded, but I used to get them all the time. A bartender gave me a tip that has worked every time: Get a slice of fresh lemon or lime and sprinkle some Angostura bitters or Campari on it. Suck on the slice. Magic! Guest avery brooks Posted November 1, 2004 wHAT ARE THIS BITTERS STUFF ? i THINK i AM JUST OVERFILLED AND HAVE GOTTEN SOME SWELLING GOING ON . i SEE THE DOC TOMORROW DREADING THE DRIVE OF 3 AND 1/2 HOURS WITH NOTHING TO DRINK. bUT IS THE ONLY THING i CAN DO . tHNAKS FOR EVERYONE'S INPUT .i WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT THE DOC SAYS TOMORROW NIGHT. hOPEFULLY I WILL NOT BE HICCUPING AVERY
Zoe 6 Posted November 1, 2004 You can get bitters or Campari from a liquor store. Bitters are a bright red liquid that lives up to its name, in sort of a good way. (This cure is not for anyone with alcohol problems.) Good luck and let us know what the doc says. PS: Try turning off the "caps lock" key.
hagerteresa 3 Posted November 1, 2004 Best of luck Avery. Hope you feel better. What was your fill level before the latest fill? Teresa

Guest avery brooks Posted November 6, 2004 I went back to the docs on Monday and they did a BA swallow I was toooo tight. He said the hiccups were caused by my stomach "appearing to be full" He took out 0.2cc and wow I am human again. Oh Zoe sorry about the caps lock on , sometimes if I don't have my contacts in I do that by mistake, sorry if i offended you . avery
