Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a bypass buddy in Arkansas. I had surgery March 2015 and am looking for someone to keep each other motivated and share the experience with.

I'm doing good. Just got back from vacation yesterday. Drove to New York ,Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. Don't think I was getting enough calories or fluids cause towards the end I was kinda blacking out every time I stood up. Dropped 3 pounds on vacation though which I used to gain cause we like to eat out at new places lol. How are you doing? Getting close to that year mark.

That's an awesome birthday present lol. Did you have your surgery here? My insurance had an exclusion on all weight loss so I had to self pay. Couldn't afford it here so had my bypass in mexico. So do you work?

I'm a stay at home mom of 3 rotten boys lol. I've really never worked always been at home. Think that's one of the reasons I gained so much weight. I sit on my butt too much.

I've worked outside the home off and on the last 12 years but finally had to give it up a year ago due to my Migraines becoming to much to do anything with. I enjoy being at home though.. The recurting I can do as I want like the candles. Don't have to leave the house for them

So you still losing weight pretty good 6 months or so out? I'm curious to if it just slows down or stops one day. I'm not losing weight super fast but I here that's the best way anyways. I'm just glad to be losing and not gaining anymore.

I guess I started out smaller in the first place. 258 was my highest and was at 228 the day of surgery. I'm down 48 pounds so far in 13 weeks. Still got 60 more to go till goal. Went from a size 24 to a 14 already so I dunno what size I'll end up being when I meet goal but I think I'm doing pretty well so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
