Hello there!

My paperwork from the Clinic says MUSHY after full fluids on Day#14 post op. THe quantities they suggested are 2 oz. chick or Protein, 2 oz. vegetables, 2 oz starch(IF you have room for it) don't push it...

a small size yogurt between meals for a snack , or jarred baby food fruit, or VEG.. maybe 1/2 a jar to start.. see how it feels.

Its not supposed to be enough to satisfy our "EYES" I think that is the biggest learning curve ahead.

Good luck and let me know how you are doing o.k.??

We all get off on each others successes around here... its a great site!

DOLLYROSE

I so agree with your comments, this is not a quick fix lifestyle change.. ITS A permanent change, to our response to physical hunger, and how we will manage our EMOTIONAL Hunger...

Personnaly, I've spent $16,000 for this proceedure and I do not want to Frig it up by overeating again!... I want nutrician for my body, that means eating Protein 1st, veggie/fruit 2nd, and last if I have room.... starch items...

I am looking forward to NEVER hitting an All YOU Can Eat Buffet again..

Bless us all in our Journeys!!

I need some suggestions on how to get the Protein drinks down. The after taste makes me want to give it back. I use ice with the drinks, which helps; however are there tricks for a better tasting drink?[/quote

Have you tried the Boost Breeze? I can not stand the shakes and milky creamy Protein Drinks either so my surgeon told me that Boost Breeze is also something I can have. It is GREAT TASTING!!!! I couldn't find it anywhere but Walgreens and it comes in wild berry, peach and orange. They are just little juice boxes (like the kid juice boxes) and each one has 9 grams of Protein. It is like a juice instead of that terrible stuff. I really like it and know that when July 9th rolls around and I have to start my all liquid diet I will be able to tolerate it a lot better with these juices. Give them a try. First ask your doc if they are ok on your pre op diet. Luckily my doc recommended them to me. Good luck!!!

Isopure makes a clear, no-carb, 40 grams Protein Drink (also the whey protein shakes--but these fruity drinks are NOT shakes). They are yummy and a full 20 oz. You can get them at GNC, with a gold card (GNC membership) they're pretty reasonably priced. I'm doing them pre-op and stocking up for post-op too. It's an easy way to get my protein in everyday.

Hello everyone,

I started my pre-op diet today. 2 weeks of protien shakes, green salad, and chicken. I use EAS vanilla protien powder (23 g per scoop) with 1/2 cup frozen berrys (black, blue & rasberrys) and 1 cup of Carb Control milk or soy milk plus 1 scoop of Benifiber. its around 250 calories and the berrys make it taste like a treat. The chocolate is pretty good mixed with the Carb Control Chocolate milk. My biggest problem with this diet and all the other ones in the past is head hunger. How do you get over that?

Im about 3 weeks into my diet. I've lost 20 pounds so far, but I think Im stalling now. Im eating about 700-900 calories. I called my nutritionist who suggested I go down to 600 calories. Good grief, was this woman train by the Gestapo or what. Im can barely sleep with my stomach grumbling as loud as it does and now Im supposed to go down another 200 to 300 calories! EEkk. I still have close to 3 weeks to loose about 12 pounds. But, I sort of feel like eating so few calories may be slowing down my metabolism. Now I wonder if I should have just done adkins. My docs plan lists a 14 day, low calorie diet, but the nutritionist has me on a 6 week low calorie diet. Seems like the nutritionist are far more aggressive about putting patients on a, long term, extreme diets.

Trying to stay strong,

V.

12 Noon, so keep possitive thought for me o.k.? This is the begining of a WHOLE NEW LIFE for me... a LIFE without BINGING and YO-yoing and perpetual failure...

Be excited in your decision! Be aware of your ULTIMATE goal, the Lap and w/l you CAN stick it out thru these pre-op & Post-op "hell" diets.. really we can do it..

Just think about next summer in a bathing suit!! with out a TENT wrapped around you! Or walking for 2 miles with your hubby or kids or dog and not PANTing harder than your DOG!!!!

All worthwhile goals right?

BE WELL,

Love Peaches9 ( I'll probably post tomorrow)

Hi, I'm also day 2 of my pre-op diet. It's not been too hard so far, but I had the advantage of having an upset stomach the first day, so no hunger pains-lol. Unfortunately for me, I am this close to surgery and still do not have insurance approval. My surgeon and his bariatric team kinda did things backwards ;). Hopefully all goes well and I do not have to start over with the pre-op diet. But, on the bright side, weight lost is weight lost :)!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
