A Tummy Tuck actually tightens your tummy muscles as well as gets rid of the extra skin. For me it is a no brainier, I have had two children and must must must get the tummy tuck even if I have to figure out how to pay out of pocket.

Tummy Tuck.< /p>

You don't want the upper portion of your belly to be your next personal eyesore. I say if your going to do it, go for it one hundred percent so you have NO regrets. Sure, it may cost you some out of pocket expense but the end result is worth it. Think about all the money we mindlessly spent through out our lives on food to get to the place of despair - ultimately causing us to make a drastic body altering decision. Personal body image is half of why many of us start this journey to begin with. You owe it to yourself to be 100% satisfied with how you look- you've earned it.

Proud of you! .....and I cant wait to be where your at right now! Keep us posted :)

It depends on your surgeon and how the condition of your muscles are.

The surgeon I had initially chosen was literally only going to remove the excess skin under my belly button and not move the belly button or do anything to the stop.

I found a different (amazing) surgeon who did the belly button and basically a Tummy Tuck without muscle repair. All covered by insurance so far.

I'm only four days post op so this isn't a final look by any means. The picture was actually at 3 days post.

You can kind of see how it was before. The before ones were taken May 1st.

LoveX - Does it feel weird not having your original belly button? How much pain are you in?

India-

The pain is bad, but not terrible. It's getting up that's the worst.

Technically it is my belly button. It's just moved. If doesn't feel any different at all.

How were you able to get it covered by insurance?

I have BCBS fep (I'm in Texas as well) and my dr took pictures and write a letter saying it was medically necessary. Around two weeks later it was approved.

I searched for a doctor who was willing to do the belly button as well.

I'm 25 and wasn't willing to have a stomach even more deformed. I'm glad I did because i found a very trustworthy surgeon who I will be going back to for my other procedures.

I was approved for both the Tummy Tuck and panniculectomy. Honestly I don't know that I would have considered one without the other. I could NOT be more pleased with the results. I'm about 8 weeks out and still quite sore in my core from the abdominoplasty, but I had a lot of muscle repair that was done. I personally wouldn't consider one without the other. I'll attach my before after pics so far. The scar is covered with scar sheets still, but it is healing up very nicely.

I'm BCBS Federal as well. Did you have to have months of documentation of rashes or anything?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
