What am I doing wrong?

Recommended Posts

I am getting hungry a couple hours after eating. I am 12 days post op. I ate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for lunch and am hungry a couple hours later. I lost 19 lbs the first 9 days and now a pound every other day.

Are you taking a PPI for stomach acid? Sometimes that can mimic hunger. I know I ate every 2-3 hours the first few months after surgery....so just eat if you're hungry again.

Also, make sure you're sipping on your fluids. Those also help to keep you fuller.

You're doing just fine. Amazing, in fact. Keep up the good work! :)

It could definetly be gastritis. I denied that it was for awhile because I was taking double strength ppi, but turns out mine was so bad that I needed double prescription strength omemprezole, ranting AND a course of carafate.

Definitely look into it

Acid reflux doesn't make your stomach upset. It mimics the feeling of hunger. Stomach acid, hunger, eat, relief. Get it?

Oh, and you're losing a helluva lotta weight early on. There's nothing wrong with you on that front.

I was also eating frequently early out in order to get in my Protein. I don't think it's unreasonable to need to eat every two or three hours. I was, and still am, either eating or drinking pretty much all day long.

A couple of thoughts. First of all, it could be acid reflux. If you are not on something, ask for it. If you are on something, ask for a new dose or a new med. Secondly, it could be your body/mind mixing up thirst and hunger. Go for Water first. 9 times out of 10 that times care of it for me. Thirdly, it could be "head hunger". Not saying it's not real.....but early on, in the first few weeks, I struggled with head hunger and cravings quite a bit. You just have to get through that time, if that is what the issue is. I wish there was an easier answer.
