I'm considering hiring a photographer for a professional photo shoot prior to surgery. It's two fold, I think I would like something to look back on after surgery to see how far I've come and I also feel a little sad about never seeing the person I am now again. It's weird right? I'm not happy with who I am when I look in the mirror but I'm scared I'll miss her! Has anyone done anything like this? Any advice?

lol, I've been doing almost the same thing. I've taken a lot of photos of my self now, so I can remember what I've looked like before surgery. I want to see how far I've come when I do loose my weight. I also want to remind my self I don't want to go back to that. I'm defiantly going to schedule a sexy photo shoot for when I'm done loosing the weight. I don't believe that I'm going to miss this. if any thing I'm going to miss food and my sodas. I'm hoping this will pass.

Pictures have been motivation for me over the last 2 years. I was hardly in any photos due to my size. I would always hide in the back of a group pic OR headshots only. Just recently my co-workers sent me some pics from a company event in 2012 and I was shocked at how giant I was. Literally teared up. I encourage you to take some full body shots, or in something like a swimsuit. When you ever feel stalled or depressed....take a peek. I can honestly say I don't miss the old me....I remember how " she" felt. Good luck to you! ( I also saved one pair of jeans as a reminder)

I would say, read this article. I saw it a few weeks ago and wish I had been so creative.

I love the article, what a neat idea. I've been avoiding photos for so long that I'm leaning towards the photos. I just don't want any regrets! If I can find a photographer to do something creative like this it would be awesome!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
