It's an upper gi. You drink barium and they watch on an X-ray. You probably had them frequently if you had a band. My surgeon says they aren't doing them routinely anymore.

I was outpatient and loved it! I'm in the medico field and there was no way I was staying overnight..... I was much more comfortable at home.

Mine will be outpatient at the surgery center across the street from our hospital, but I will arrive at 9am, they will keep me for 23 hours, and I will leave at 8am the next day, so technically it is an overnight. I'm self-pay, so they said that makes it significantly less expensive for me.

I was outpatient - had surgery at 10:30 but for some reason, wasn't able to go to the bathroom. They sent me home with a catheter and I had to return the day for removal. All good now.
