BigDaddyJG 67 Posted June 9, 2015 I'm a belly sleeper. I start on my back then roll over to lay on my stomach for the night. I'm wondering if this will change once I have WLS and for how long? Thoughts?
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted June 9, 2015 I don't sleep on my belly, but I do get spinal epidurals and must lay on my belly for them. It was three months before I felt comfortable in trying it, but I did fine and was already fifty pounds down.
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted June 9, 2015 I am a stomach sleeper too, since a baby! I had to stay off my stomach for a few weeks because of the pain, but after that I was okay. Every time I needed to move around I had to move slowly because of the soreness. I still sleep on my stomach even after the weight loss. So it's pretty much for me only a few weeks out of my life that I had to alter my sleeping.< /p>
Chrystee 838 Posted June 9, 2015 Probably 2 or 3 weeks I had to lay on my back/side, until I was healed enough for it to be comfortable.
SeahawksFan 444 Posted June 9, 2015 The first few weeks I slept a little upright with two pillows. Then I moved one to the side long ways so that I could be propped up a little so that it wouldn't be as painful. But after 3 weeks you should be fine. ~LA
Babbs 14,681 Posted June 9, 2015 Tummy sleeper here, too! I put a pillow between my legs and layed as much on my side/stomach as I could. It was only for a couple weeks.
Stevehud 1,790 Posted June 9, 2015 like babbs i sleep with a pillow between my legs, and try to do more side than belly now, you will be amazed what happens when you lose the weight, you find these things sticking out of you, i think they call them...bones? lol seriously its weird getting accustomed to new positions because you are a lot more comfortable in different positions. BigDaddyJG 67 Posted June 10, 2015 I have a wedge pillow to prop me up if needed. Once my belly gets smaller.... sleeping habits may change also. Thanks for the input.
verdalilly 28 Posted June 11, 2015 It took me a few weeks also, but I'm back on my belly and loving it! Lol
gofigure 56 Posted June 15, 2015 I ended up sleeping on my side while I was in the hospital, holding a pillow against my stomach. My first night at home, I was back on my stomach, and I've been that way since. For me, once I got into position I was perfectly fine---so it hurt for a second while I got adjusted, and then it was okay. If you flip in your sleep, you may not even really notice it! hockeyfan7 249 Posted June 23, 2015 I'm a stomach sleeper and I was doing it in the hospital. I just used a pillow to prop up against. Same thing at home - I use a pillow and I haven't had any problems.
Jessica Ellison-Correa 66 Posted August 21, 2015 i was wondering about this also because im a belly/side sleeper
BigDaddyJG 67 Posted August 21, 2015 I didn't have much issue with this. I was on my back a couple days then my side a couple days then I was on my belly like normal. I was aware of my stitches and I made careful moves in the night but all in all, it was nothing for me to worry about.
