Vitamin overdoses and underdoses

Recommended Posts

Ugh, I'm so sorry u get those leg cramps. Ive had them since i was really young too. They are the worst! I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

My family actually has a history of low potassium so im not suprised. I didn't even think this was due to that tho because I'm use to my mom's symptoms of the leg cramps. I did get minor ones (nothing to blink at) but figured it was due to all the exercising. Glad I finally went in to get checked!

Ugh, I know. Over the counter potassium is a joke. My Dr prescribed me high dose potassium packets. You mix them with Water and drink it. So grose. I'll do that for a few days then take another blood test next week to evaluate.

The worst part of the cramps is that I always wake up my poor husband. The intensity of the pain is just..... I'm writhing around in bed, moaning or even screaming for a minute or two and my poor husband thinks I'm dying. Sometimes I can stop them before they are in full swing by flexing my foot to be at a 90 degree angle to my shin and stretching out the muscle, but I have to be semi-awake to catch them before they really get going for that to work. If I'm dead asleep and don't get that warning twinge, then it's just like someone stuck a pitchfork into my calf and started twisting it. It's compelty excruciating. It's what I imagine the cruciatus curse from Harry Potter to feel like.

i too have low BP, and i know im not as hydrated as a should be, got the lecture about it again. my vit D is very low, im on 50 thousand units every 2 days now to keep it up and i take D daily as well, but im in new england and we dont getthat year round sun we need. . Iron supplements etc. B12 is one of the most common Vitamins by the way you get a lot from things like propel, or Vitamin Water etc. even your Protein shakes have tons of it. SO most times taking extra b12 is useless.

When they did my 3 month labs, i passed out after they drew out 10 vials of blood. Doesnt help that I am a huge needle phobe who gets way too anxious while waiting for blood draws and IV's. I have t go back for my 6 month, they wanted me to do it during my last visit but my bp was low and i was dehydrated so they nixed that. I have to go back with my wife so she can drive as they dont want me driving after having the blood drawn for at least a few hours. Sigh. To give you an idea, my vita D level was at 3. lol

Jamie i assume youve tried quinine sulfate with no results?

Jamie i assume youve tried quinine sulfate with no results?

I have a SUPER conservative doctor and she recommends against any medication with potential side effects unless I have real health risks. Since my leg cramps are sporadic and they aren't actually doing any long term harm to me, she doesn't want me taking quinine, which can actually have some pretty serious side effects from what she told me.

OMG I know EXACTLY what your talking about. I'm not a wuss with pain but those literally make me cry out. I once had one so bad it travled up my body and it felt like contractions!

Hahaha I love your Harry Potter comparison! So going to use that!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
