3 days post op and it's the worst day yet!

Recommended Posts

I felt so good on day 2 and most of day 3, I was making plans to go back to work the following Monday (would have been 1 week post op.) I hadn't taken any pain meds other than Tylenol, I was walking, getting in all my Water and Protein, had no nausea. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Then it hit me. I felt pretty bad that night. Took some of the Vicodin and was a little less active the next day and that seemed to turn things around. I ended up taking another week off work, but I probably could have gone back mid-week. I decided that a little extra time to get in my walks and work on advancing my diet were a good thing. Now I'm 2 months out and feeling great.

We'll, now I'm 1 week post op and things have changed. I've had very little pain but as of today my energy had dropped to almost ziltch! I'm really focusing on hydration and Protein. My Dr's protocol allows soft high protein foods at this point so I'm glad to be off liquids!!!! It's so interesting how all of our body's react differently to the same procedure.

I was sleeved on Monday June 8 and I have found that one or two sips usually go down if I sip slowly. Old habit craves 3 or 4 sips of H2O at a time and that's when a feel that cramp in my chest. It's all a learning curve...I hope that swallowing pain goes away soon!

I'm almost 9 days post op now and things are great! I tire easily, but I'm able to take bigger sips at a time and i'm eating an ounce at a time with no problems. I'm also down 9# since surgery! Woohoo

I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I remember thinking right after surgery how desperately hopeless I felt to struggle to even get a tiny 1-oz medicine cup of Water down. It just hurt so much going down. I felt like my esophogus/stomach was having spasms. But It definitely gets better. Just do what you can and "sip, sip, sip," as much as you possibly can. Every day you will start to feel better.

Hi I am 1 week out post op (june 8th) and have been having a bad pain around my lower left shoulder blade and slight mild pain in my left chest like if you could drive a stake right through, it would line up :) I was having this early post op but the meds took care of it, now it won't go away even with meds. Has anyone experienced this?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
