Week 3 a bust? What the heck is going on?

Recommended Posts

Well here I am was all psyched to get in the scale and see what has happened over the past week, and blamo! 1.5 lbs down, really? 500 calories or less per day and 4 days of walking for an hour, and 1.5 lbs what the heck is going on? Feeling frustrated!

Are you building muscle from your walking? I have also heard many people talk about the 3 week stall. Just stay focused and the weight will continue to fall off.

Could be building muscle drinking all that Protein and walking! 3 week stall? That kinda makes sense like the Week 2 rebound on biggest loser!

I didn't lose anything for two weeks post up, I was doing everything right and could not figure it out. Then I had a thought when I first got home I was on a clear broth diet and I lost weight the day I went on shakes and pureed diet I stalled.

so I thought I will do the broth thing and you know what, in 5 days I lost 11 pounds.

As I am a diabetic, all carbs and little sugar I was putting in my mouth with the shakes was putting my weight loss in jeopardy.

so I am sticking to broth and seafood high in Protein and I feel great.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
