Amylou 206 Posted June 8, 2015 OK I'm 12 hours into liquid diet Day #1. I'm nervous - as what I've read, it's the hardest part of this journey. Anyone have any tips for me?? Any must-have things to have on hand?
CloserToFine 172 Posted June 9, 2015 Amylou, We're on the same schedule! I started my 10-day pre-op liquid diet yesterday, too! I had a hard day today . . . headache all day long, semi-nauseous, and HUNGRY. However, I am following the diet to the letter and know I will make it. The key for me was to find Protein shakes that I liked. I bought Optimum Nutrition 100% whey Gold Standard powder in Extreme Milk chocolate, and also in vanilla. I've mixed it into Cream of Rice, Soup, and have had some pretty tasty and filling smoothies (with Greek yogurt). Hang in there -- it's gotta get easier! Daisee68 2,493 Posted June 9, 2015 Swanson's broth - Beef, chicken and Mexican Tortilla. It saved me. And lots and lots of Water and tea. This is the hardest part. After the surgery you aren't hungry. If you can get through this, you can get through the post-op diet easily. Good luck!
MarylandCrab 25 Posted June 10, 2015 Me, too! I started yesterday! Mine is 3 Protein shakes and 3 oz of meat and 1 cup and 1/2 of veg. Sort of a Medifast diet. Then all liquid right before surgery. I have a month of this! Hang in there! We can do this!
ohjul 51 Posted June 10, 2015 You can get through this! I'll be doing this beginning June 29th. You didn't come this far to stop now!!
sarabeth82 14 Posted June 10, 2015 I started my 10 day pre-op diet today. I'm supposed to have a Protein Drink for Breakfast and lunch and a small piece of meat and small salad for dinner. I already have a headache and am hungry! I imagine this will make things easier after surgery, though. Taking it day by day.
freelee 128 Posted June 10, 2015 It will get better. I'm on day 9 of a 14 day liquid diet. The headaches quit a couple of days ago.
