Had surgery on May 19th. Everything went well. Not a horrible amount of pain other then trying to get up & down. Eating like I should, didn't cheat. Started "real" food on June 2nd, per dr. orders. Ever since I have spiraled down into a huge depression. I don't regret doing it, I love the fact the scale is going down. I just feel like crap even though I am eating like I should taking all the meds like I should. (I count my Vitamins as meds) I just don't get why I feel like crap & it is starting to be a struggle to get out of bed or even get up. I go for walks (1-2miles) per day, but nothing is helping. This is going to get better, right?

I'm going thru the same thing! I have days where I'm exhausted and could just sleep all day. I too was wondering if this will ever pass or get better.

The surgeon told me that the fatigue hangs around for about 6 weeks. I was sleeved on 4/6. I went back to work 2 weeks later. I found I was pretty tired and did not always have energy for activities I wanted to do. I work in a hospital, and do direct patient care so I was on light duty for a month after I went back. My first week back to full duty was really hard, but now I feel great. I have more energy than I did before surgery. Be sure to get all your Water and Protein and it will get better. Good luck!

You've had major surgery, drastically cut your calories and your hormones are out of whack because of all of this. I started to see an improvement around three months but I still have bouts of it. I'm working on getting outside more to appreciate nature and eating less processed food. If it gets too severe make sure you tell a doctor.

My surgery was 5/20. I find that I get really tired after I eat. I know a few people who were sleeved several months earlier and they still feel the fatigue after eating. The best cure I have found is to rest for 30 mins then get active. I also try to make the most of my meals by packing in the Protein to get the most energy.... but I still could sleep the day away if I didn't have responsibilities lol. I can't wait to be 6 months out and be used to all these changes.

GOOD LUCK!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
