JUST heard about this in my pre op class last Thursday. The dent is from how they stitch you up after they pull your stomache through that spot. It will all even out eventually....

As for the pain. I would just keep walking and don't get behind on your pain meds. Muscles tense and tighten when rested. KEEP MOVING! :) Good luck!!

My "dent" hurt for while to the point I called my doctor because I believed that there must be something wrong! But he kinda laughed and said "you just had surgery a few weeks ago what do you expect." Always check and take your pain medications! Get well soon.

My big one is indented and is the most sore of all of them. I was sleeved on 6/9. I was hoping to drop the OxyContin today, but I gave in. Will try again tomorrow.

Sea salt (can buy at the dollar store) and warm Water in a spray bottle...

I do it before my shower and actually let it dry, then take my shower! I was also scared a week after surgery, when the nurse took my staples out and my little fur baby jumped on me! (It blead, so I just knew I was in trouble) so, went to dads to get some peroxide, and he told me what to do... He still doesn't know what kind of surgery I had. But he did say salt water would give you less of a scar...

Sounds good and works for me ????????

I put an ice pack on my big cut, it helped and also didn't have to take pains meds because ice numbed it:)

11 days out and my big one feels like I'm ripping muscle from it to my belly button everyone I move to quickly toward that side. I know it's because it's healing but geeze it hurts. The dent does start to smooth out. Mines almost gone.

I am 8 weeks out. My left incision was really painful as as well. My doc prescribed pain Patches that helped. Also I bought a binder. That was a big help because that took some of the strain off the cut abdomen muscles. I highly recommend getting one. At 3 weeks my left stitch popped out and I felt much better. Hope you feel better soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
