According to my personal doctor I have lost 19 lbs. But I know I had lost a little pre op. So since the surgery I feel like it's closer to 14lbs. 14 lbs since 6/21 is a happy thing. I've not weighed myself yet this week, so it may be more. I only allow myself to step on the scale once a week. Otherwise I get all anxious. Silly, I know.

Lap band surgery Tijuana, Mexico|$6,800 Surgery|Surgeons Inamed Certificate|Financing|Gastric Sleeve

I had mine here and my buddy and her workmate did too. They are very nice and you're in your own room. They even drove me around to shop for gifts to bring home the day after.

Blugini, Can you give me your surgeon's name? Because I've researched Bajanor and I've heard some very negative things about them. Is that a little tiny clinic next to the railroad tracks? Maybe if you give us the surgeon's name that actually operated on you?

Thanks

Here is the article by Ken Miller on how to chose a WLS surgeon:

Surgeons, surgeons, surgeons! They’re everywhere! You can’t turn on your TV or read a magazine these days without seeing an article or an advertisement about one of the hundreds of surgeons who are now performing some type of weight-loss surgery... .

This is wonderful information. Thanks for posting this!

Hi. I just saw your post and I want to mention my doc.

Dr. De la Garza in Monterrey. He is wonderful and speaks perfect English as did the Anesthesiologist. The OCA Hospital is beautiful and spotless. There is a hotel on the 4th floor of the hospital and your stay there is included in the price. I received the very best of care and my surgery was rather compicated because I had lots of adhesions and scar tissue from two previous surgeries, one abdominal and Vertical Banded Gastroplasty. He removed my gall bladder at the same time. All that and I did beautifully. Surgery on Monday and I came home Wednesday and that Friday I felt well enough to spend the day at the Casino.

I have gone back to him for all my fills (they are free for life but I do pay a nominal fee to the hospital for the fluoro). His assistant is always available by email and phone and a couple times when I called to ask a question he picked up the phone and spoke with me. I have his cell number and I honestly think he is a doctor that cares about his patients and how we progress. I am down 81 lbs and have had 0 problems.

I believe the price for lapband is about $8000 which includes car service to and from the airport.

:: Obesity Surgery ::

Wishing you the best.

Ana

Great to hear this. My husband and I are scheduled for Oct 1 with Dr. Rodriguez as well. we were hoping someone had experience with him. So far everything seems to be on the up and up and we wish we could go sooner, but we have to wait for vacation.

mikesmom,

I'm so glad you found a doctor you like! I wish I could give you feedback, but I don't know about the doctor you chose. Good luck! Do you have a date yet?

If you want the best care possible and not be about the fee, go to the team at getbandednow.com. Lead surgeon is a FACS (Fellow of the American College of Surgeons). They use a full Anethesiologist a second surgeon and a surgical nurse. Hard to get that care anywhere for same fee. They really are cool. Their support is amazing 24/7!

_____________

Wow? They have a "full anesthesiologist" whatever that means, a second surgeon- how else would you do lap surgery ( have never heard of any lap band surgery without one, and a surgical nurse. No surgical nurses would be like a party without peanuts.

There are several surgeons with much higher qualifications who have alot more initials behind their names. How long have they been doing lap band surgery. One way to verify this is to see thier education (usually on thier site) and see when they completed their residency. Read, read, read. You hear certain names over and over again. That is because they have reputations. Reputations are generally because most of their patients are content with their services otherwise you would hear alot of complaints. Call Allergan Corp. the maker of the band and get their opinion.

I went to Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. First Class all the way. Everyone spoke excellent english. there were two surgeons, an anesthesiologist. We were put up in a classy hotel and chauffered from airport to hotel to clinic. The clinic was new, clean and up to date. I just can't put into words how great it was. Awesome, first class. Just great ! !

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
