Normal intake of liquid stage?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Can you tell me what is the average amount of calories a very recently sleeved person should be getting in? I am know 4 days out from my surgery. Day 1-3 I had almost nothing, but today I managed to get in 330 calories. Is that normal? 39 grams of Protein (which is on track I am supposed to aim for 40 g right now) and about the 20g of carbs. Is this ok. Should I be limiting myself more? Also I noticed today that my weight is exactly the same as surgery not even an ounce down. Has anyone else experienced this their first week? My weigh in day is technically Saturday - tomorrow - so I am hoping it's down in the morning. Any words of wisdom would be welcomed. Thanks guys!!!!

You do not need to be limiting calories. You do need to be focusing on getting your Protein and fluids. Staying hydrated and getting in your Protein will help you heal and lose weight.

Stay off the scale! You are healing from major surgery and were pumped full of IV fluids. I only weigh when I go to the doctor. You will lose weight you just won't see it on the scale this soon after surgery.

Ditto to everything @@Inner Surfer Girl said. Just relax, let your body heal and Concentrate on fluids, Protein and Vitamins. You don't have to worry about any other numbers at this point. I was never given a calorie "goal" and never bothered to count them. The scale is also not your friend at this point...your body is too messed up from surgery trauma/IV fluids/anesthesia, etc. for the numbers to mean anything anyways. I didn't weigh until 11 days out (just because it was New Years Day and I wanted a milestone number). and I only stepped on the scale like 6 times in the first 3 months.

Relax, enjoy the journey and don't stress the details.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
