Food day @ work...HELP

Recommended Posts

I have been sooooo good at avoiding temptation. Today we are celebrating a coworker buying his first house and another coworkers last day due to promotion. I am afraid I am going to gain 5 lbs today only!!! I actually WANT to eat the day away. HELP!!!!!

Make yourself a small plate of what you are allowed to have and then walk away. This is something yu will have to do for the rest of your life so do it today and be proud of yourself. If there is something you just HAVE to have then have one bite and leave it at that. Good luck! You can do it!!

@@2bullymom - then move it away....you can do that.

Or take it home and eat what you know you are allowed or when its time.

I haven't had any trouble with temptation either. Except the ice cream stuff I see in the cooler every time I go get Water. But I never give in, and I'll bet you can overcome this too! I'm only about 2 months out. So I can't eat hardly anything. Which in reality is great!!! lol Hope you do well!

@@crazyffhfan I gave into my temptation and bought pizza a couple of Fridays ago on the way home from work. I am 4weeks 2 days out and haven't had it since March and thought "just one thin slice..." well, I got thin crust and the narrowest strip and took a bite and....nothing. I chewed it and then tried a couple of more bites. Ate about 3 and spit one out. I had my "moment" and I am over it.

@2bullymom - throw it in the trash.

Lol I haven't done as badly as I thought I would. I have allowed myself to have a bit of everything I want. So while I have not been the best, I refuse to look at it as "being bad." I don't flat deny myself any food because if I do I will binge later. I have a little bit and then move on!

You can only eat so much so take a little of the things u want and nibble and feel good about being "bad" without binging cuz really you can't do that at once anyway. You'll be good :)

Thank you guys! Once I got over the initial freak out I was ok. I probably grazed more than I should have but over all it was WAY better than I would have done in the past, so I am proud of myself. And I will get up tomorrow morning, shake this day off and get on with it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
