Well, tomorrow I see the NUT for visit 1 of 4. I was hoping to find out what Dr. Turnquest decided about doing surgery on me (Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis) but I have the feeling I won't. Earlier this week they hadn't gotten my records from the liver doctor (liver dr said 7-10 business days). It has been over 10 days but I doubt I will know anything one way or another tomorrow.

Any suggestions how I can get things moving so I will know? You know how a doctor's office staff can be. I really don't like (can't stand) waiting another month! Besides that, I have so many tests, etc that have to be done pre-op, as you all know, and I don't want to do any of that till I know for sure I am having surgery.

Waiting is pure hell!

It was a long process for me but in the end it was well worth the wait.

If I were in your shoes, I would call both doctors' offices OFTEN to make sure the records are transferred in a timely manner.

Best wishes!

@@LousPeachy go to your Dr. office yourself and get a copy of the records. You have the right to the copies they don't have to go from one office to the other. Once you have them you can make a copy and give them to any Dr. you need to see in the future.

To help facilitate my husbands and my surgery I asked for copies of all medical records and tests that were done before I left the office so that I would have them to send to who ever needed them Dr. or insurance company to make sure our time frame was on track.

Well, my records finally got to Dr. Turnquest's office today so naturally he wasn't able to review them yet. I was told he is good about doing so and I should know by Wednesday or Thursday of next week one way or the other. Not much longer and THAT part will be taken care of anyhow.

The NUT told me I was losing great and what I was eating was fine. She did say however, that the number of calories I was eating was NOT sustainable. And she is right, not enough calories to keep me from getting really hungry. So I now on 1,100 to 1,200 calories a day. It was starting to get hard to eat 900 calories a day even if I WAS eating the right food.

It's never easy is it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
