I agree Dr. Peterson is the best. The endoscopy should be quick. I will be thinking about you so let me know how you are when you get home

Be sure you take someone with you or they might cancel. You get moderate sedation so you can't drive yourself home. My endoscopy is 6/23. I have psychology eval. Wednesday with Dr. Raj and after the endoscopy i have everything done they can ask for approval. When are you planning surgery?

I will for sure keep you posted. The endoscopy is my last thing before asking for approval. Pre-approval has already been made so I am hoping no later then mid July or maybe sooner. My husband will be going with me so I have him by my side through all of this which is nice. However it is always wonderful to meet new friends who are on the same journey.

Oh and dr raj is awesome :)

Great thats good to know I have been wondering what that evaluation will be about. I am glad to hear she is nice. I am so glad to meet someone that is going through this too and at the same clinic thats amazing - its a small world.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
